As anyone can see I'm not for Bush, lately I have not been for or against the war in Iraq, kinda neutral as far as I only know two things Bush is an idiot and inocent people are dieing on both sides of the war. Last night as I lay my sweet baby daughter back down for bed I hopped in my bed and grab the remote and flipped. I usually end up on something that keeps me up. I end up on good ole' PBS it was a documentary of the uprising in Iran in the 80's. When the Shah declared dictatorship, but the funny thing was he was trying to bring Iran into the modern age, womens rights, no more veils, raised the marriage age for girls from 15 to 18 yrs old. Gave women the right to divorce and legal rights to their children if they did divorce. To me it sounded like he was a good man. The male public of Iran did not like him and tried to have him assasinated, they started organizations to over throw his government that he created which by the way had woman in high places in his cabinet. I did not know this had taken place in Iran at all I thought they had always been this way, as far as the old ways. They went through the things that Iraq are going through now minus the U.S mind you. But unfornately the new ways of Iran did not last, the untited front of the Iranian males and their organizations over threw the govenment and had the Shah removed from office and things went back to the old ways. Now I know that Iraq and Iran are two different places with different issues but similar stories of what is happening to the repressed women and children of these countries. Back to my point here, Bush went to war for all the wrong reasons, other people may dissagree, but now that they are over there I am starting to think its not such a bad thing, I'm not eating my words here, I still think Bush is a moron, but the lord works in mysterious ways. I think the Iraqi people deserve the right to have freedom especially the women and children who have suffered for so long. The need to be safe is not a privalage its a human right and as I watched the program last night I realized that the people over there have no rights and that is a terrible thing, not to be able to be who you want to be, to be scared of your husband the man who should protect you and love you is the one who represse you. What kind of life is that? In other words as I looked over at my new daughter, a girl, a new little life who will one day be a woman I started to realize that the war that so many oppose is not bad, but even tho' we went over there for the wrong reasons more good can come from this than bad. When I think of families over there just like the ones here, it breaks my heart to know that they have not even come close to a life like ours, Im very thankful for what I have, even tho' its not much. I have changed my ideas on the war now that I have seen the faces of the war, and what I mean by that is that there are people over there who are greatful they we have come to help them, the sad thing is they are out numbered by the one who hate us. Let me remind you again I don't agree with why Bush went to war but now whats done is done and I hope that the best comes from this. There are so many dirrerent opions on this subject and remember this is only my opion, My fact are a little shady on the Iran Issue being as it was the middle of the night when this stange thing happened to me, in the middle of the night the quiet peace I realized the war has a face, a face of a Woman, a face of a child. It's not just politics, like some people think, when they make it just politics they de-humanize the issue of Bush's decision to go to war, and now I will remember the war has a face.
